Catalina Council-Scouting America looking to have another impact in El Tour

Youth will be served at the 41st El Tour de Tucson on Nov. 23, 2024.

In part because Catalina Council-Scouting America will be there once again. They do a great job of helping in any way they can as they work to get their badges.

The boy scouts will be riding – and participating – to earn a merit badge, one of the great staples for being a member of the Scouting America group. There’s a merit badge for cycling, and all that goes with it.

It’s all about bikes when it comes to earning that badge: basic maintenance of a bike, air in the tires, how change a flat, check the brakes, hand signal learning and more.

It’s a process of learning the bike, being the bike.

Scouting America (formerly the Boy Scouts of America) is one of the largest scouting organizations in the United States of America and one of the largest youth organizations in the world, with more than 2.4 million youth participants and nearly one million adult volunteers.

The organization was founded in 1910, and since then, more than 110 million Americans have been participants in its programs at some time. Scouting America is part of the international Scout Movement and became a founding member organization of the World Organization of the Scout Movement in 1922.
