Homeless ID Project: ‘we could not be more excited to be a part of this year’s event’

The mission of the Homeless ID Project is to empower individuals and families to overcome homelessness and rebuild their lives by providing access to replacement identification documents required to obtain jobs, housing, and other vital services.

They assisted over 17,000 people, many who have experienced domestic violence, forced eviction, aging out of foster care, and significant catastrophic events within the last year. The Homeless ID project provides crucial services for those rebuilding their lives and creating a stable future.

The Homeless ID Project knows how vital it is for people to have an ID. Having an ID is the key to being able to get opportunities within employment, housing, education, medical care, and social services. Program Specialist Paula Miller spoke with us on how the Homeless ID Project is starting to spread its name within the city.

Homeless ID Project is one of more than 100 nonprofits participating in El Tour.

“We first started out in Phoenix but now we’ve made our way down here to Tucson,” said Miller. “This is our first year with El Tour de Tucson and we could not be more excited to be a part of this year’s event.”

With just having started in Tucson, Miller and the Homeless ID Project want to reach as many community members as possible and provide help to those who need it.

“For us, we need to get our name out there so that the people who need our help can find it,” Miller said. “It’s starting to pick up a little bit, but we just want to get as many people as possible to ride for us this year.”
