Homeless ID Project helping those in need through El Tour

With offices in Phoenix and Tucson, and in partnership with  El Tour along with 60-plus organizations across Arizona, the Homeless ID Project is the state’s only full-time provider of Identification Replacement Services for people experiencing homelessness.

El Tour is pleased to welcome back the Homeless ID Project as a nonprofit for this year’s 43rd race. We look forward to continue working to help every area of our community here in Arizona.

Without an ID or birth certificate, doors to housing, jobs, healthcare and education stay closed; and the Homeless ID Project exists to open those doors back up.

The Homeless ID Project started in 1987 with Rev. Gerald Roseberry, who spent a month living among the homeless in downtown Phoenix and Tucson, Arizona. To understand the plight of the homeless and identify how his church could best assist the homeless community.

Since then the project has turned into a necessity for those experiencing homelessness.

According to their website, 20,543 total services including providing ID’s, birth certificates, and other necessary document security were provided in 2025.
