Salvation Army Tucson back again at El Tour: ‘we had to be part of it this year’

Last year, the Salvation Army Tucson helped 24,229 people in need. It will continue to provide the same social services this year. The Salvation Army helps to provide food for the hungry, shelter and clothing for people experiencing homelessness.

They also help with rent and utilities assistance, disaster relief, and respite from extreme weather conditions.

There are also senior activities and outreach, opportunities for under-resourced children, resources for holiday assistance, and emotional and spiritual support. The Salvation Army is doing its best to be the first stop for people receiving help at more than 40 units across the state.

The Salvation Army gives a hand up, not a hand out, serving those in need without discrimination or judgment.

Once again, the Salvation Army will be back in El Tour this year. This will be its second year.

“Last year went great, that’s why we had to be part of it this year,” said Kelli Beasley, PR Community Engagement Manager.  “We are just grateful they asked us to be one of their partners.”

Similar to most of El Tour’s non-profit partners, the Salvation Army is looking to get as many people out on the route as possible.

“Mainly, we just want to have fun and just get our name out there,” said Beasley. “Events like Loop de Loop (an El Tour event) and the ride itself allows us to have a platform to spread our name and gives us the opportunity to present what programs we have to offer.”
