Sonoran Glass School new to El Tour but ready for a good initial year
Dedicated to inspiring people of all ages to discover the wonder of glass art and providing a sense of community within Arizona, El Tour is proud to welcome the Sonoran Glass School (SGS) to our list of partners in this year’s race!

SGS offers multiple different types of workshops for all different skill levels with four different types of glasswork shops including:
Hot Shop – Dynamic and exciting place where skilled artists transform molten glass into stunning works of art.
Warm Shop – Unlike furnace glassblowing or torch working which use molten glass, this studio works by cutting sheet glass allowing the artist to have more time to focus on color and design elements.
Flame Shop – The Flame Shop is where a torch is used to melt glass, beads, marbles, pendants, vases, goblets and, where sculptures are created.
Cold Shop – Artists use various tools and techniques to finish, refine, and sometimes even create new works of art from glass.
Sonoran Glass School is guided by their beliefs in:
- Artistic excellence – An environment where students and working artists alike can grow artistically, creatively, and professionally.
- Teamwork – Both within their studios and within their community, SGS’s staff nurtures an atmosphere of collaboration and communication.
- Inclusion & Diversity – We acknowledge and honor the fundamental value and dignity of all individuals. We demonstrate a commitment to diversity in staff, volunteers and audiences, including full participation in programs, policy formulation, and decision-making. SGS creates an environment where all feel welcome.
- Community – Sonoran Glass School is an integral part of Tucson’s arts community. They contribute to a dynamic arts landscape and advocate for a robust creative economy
