The Tour de Scottsdale set for a great day of cycling on March 28
More than 3,000 cyclists from across the United States are expected to participate in the annual HonorHealth Tour de Scottsdale on March 28.
The ride is in its third year after a five-year hiatus. Once again, HonorHealth is the presenting sponsor with CEO Todd LaPorte scheduled to ride in the event.
“HonorHealth is thrilled to be the presenting sponsor again this year for this year’s Tour de Scottsdale,” LaPorte said. “Since 1927, our roots in Arizona have grown deep, and we remain steadfast in our mission to improve the health and well-being of community members from every walk of life. This commitment is woven into the fabric of who we are – and it shines through in events like the Tour de Scottsdale.”
The McDowell Conservancy and Perimeter Bicycling Association of America have partnered to bring Tour de Scottsdale to fruition.
Over the last two years, nearly 6,000 cyclists have participated in the newer version of Tour de Scottsdale, an event that has cyclists riding in either the 62-mile event or the 32-miler. The rides begin and end at the popular WestWorld in Scottsdale. The 62-mile ride begins at 7 a.m. with the 32-miler starting at 8: 45 a.m.

“The Tour de Scottsdale is a celebration of cycling and community, and it also plays an important role in supporting the ongoing care of the McDowell Sonoran Preserve,” said Angy Shearer, CEO, McDowell Sonoran Conservancy. “By participating, cyclists are helping protect the desert landscapes that make Scottsdale such a remarkable place to live, ride, hike and explore.”
The ride has been called a “destination event” given the great weather and Scottsdale being a premier city to visit, not just in the spring, but any time. Cyclists have registered from 41 states and five countries. There will be an Expo, with several nonprofits, bicycle companies and sponsors involved in the event. The Expo begins on March 27.
“We’re excited for another competitive yet relaxing ride in Scottsdale if the last two Tours are any indication,” said TJ Juskiewicz, Executive Director of Perimeter. “There is a great synergy in Scottsdale with all the principals involved and everyone’s desire to make it a safe and fulfilling ride. It’s going to be a great day of cycling in the Valley.”
Joining the race this year is Blue Zones founder Dan Buettner Sr. and members of the Blue Zones team. Buettner is a National Geographic explorer, bestselling author, and Guinness World Record-holding endurance cyclist who discovered the world’s blue zones – where people live the longest, healthiest lives.
Tour de Scottsdale also offers other nonprofit organizations to join the ride. There are more than 20 nonprofits already signed up to help their cause in making Tour de Scottsdale a fundraiser.
“Tour de Scottsdale is a celebration of community, fitness and the love of cycling,” said Scottsdale Mayor Lisa Borowsky. “The route offers breathtaking views o the Sonoran Desert and Scottsdale’s stunning desert landscapes, with various ride distances to suit al levels. Our city works hard to ensure that your experience is smooth, safe and full of fun.”
There are no road closures, but there will be heavy bike traffic on the route (see below). Please follow all traffic signs.
