First-timers Tucson Army Recruiting Company joins El Tour as a sponsor

Anthony R. Crayton has seen and heard about the impact El Tour de Tucson has in and around the community. It’s a reason why he and the Tucson Army Recruiting Company has decided to be part of the event.

“I first learned about El Tour through social media and immediately saw how big of an event it is for the Tucson community,” said Crayton, 1LT, LG & Tucson Army Recruiting Company ROO. “We knew we wanted to be part of something that brings so many people throughout the region together. It’s a great opportunity for us to support the community and be part of something that means a lot to Tucson.”

They’ll be a sponsor and be part of the three-day Expo on Nov. 21 “to engage with the community

“Increasing Army visibility is definitely part of it, but we also want to show a different side of the United States Army,” he said. “We want people to see that we’re not just recruiters but  we’re also members of the community. Events like El Tour allow us to connect with people, support the community, and build relationships.”

In fact, there will be a rider – Staff Sergeant Marcos Cruz and his family – in the event.

“We’re excited to have someone from our team participating and representing the Army alongside the Tucson community,” he said, “answering questions, and providing information about opportunities within the Army.”

He can’t wait to be part of the event, now in its 43rd year. More than 11,000 cyclists are expected to participate in the event.

“I’m not a Tucson native, but since arriving here,” he said. “I’ve seen how much pride people have in the community. Based on everything I’ve seen and heard about El Tour, it seems to be one of the most significant events in the region. I’m looking forward to experiencing it firsthand and having the Army be part of it.”
