Medical Reserve Corps of Southern Arizona joins El Tour

When emergencies happen, communities need more than just first responders.

(MRCSA) brings together healthcare professionals and other trained volunteers to strengthen emergency preparedness, support public health efforts and help Southern Arizona communities respond and recover when they need it most.

El Tour is proud to announce the MRCSA will be joining our non-profit partners this year.

The organization’s program provides the structure necessary to deploy medical and non-medical personnel in response to an emergency, disaster, or a specific community need. The MRCSA is composed of active and retired health care professionals and other volunteers who are pre-screened, trained and registered and who can be deployed to augment the healthcare system in an emergency.

The MRCSA has multiple response teams prepared and organized for different types of situations:

• Public Health Team – Providing Support for Public Health Services
• MCIRT Team – Assisting in response to a mass casualty incident.
• Shelter Support Team – Assisting community partners in Emergency Shelters
• Community Engagement Team – Reducing community vulnerabilities through training.
• Crisis Response Team – Providing emotional support following a traumatic event.
• Heat Action Team – Addressing issues of heat related Illness through outreach and education.

Recognizing that preparedness is a shared responsibility, it calls for the involvement of everyone, not just the government, in preparedness efforts. By working together, everyone can keep the nation safe from harm and resilient when struck by hazards.
