Sonoran Institute works ‘conserving & restoring natural resources’ essential to our communities

Connecting communities with the natural resources that nourish and sustain them is what The Sonoran Institute is all about. El Tour is pleased to welcome them to our non-profit community for the 43rd annual race.

The Sonoran Institute focuses its work around conserving and restoring natural resources that are essential to our communities across the Western United States, and northern Mexico. With special focus on water conservation and restoration along the Colorado River Delta and the Santa Cruz River.

As a conservation non-profit for over 30 years, the Sonoran Institute has made a significant impact among communities, ecosystems, rivers, and landscapes. According to their website they have $320 million invested locally, conserved and protected over 500,000 acres of land, planted 200,000 native tree seedlings in the Colorado River Delta region, and trained over 2,000 community leaders and activists.
