Snoop Dogg Arizona Bowl to have a nice presence at El Tour; join in on the fun

It was an idea tossed around a few years ago from those involved: why not have two of Tucson’s sports-centric nonprofits team up to help one another?

Well, the Snoop Dogg Arizona Bowl and El Tour de Tucson have decided to do just that for the upcoming El Tour on Nov. 23 and beyond.

The premier cycling event and the standout college football game will unite, with Arizona Bowl officials getting involved. It’s a nice collaboration and cross promotion for the two Tucson heavyweights.

Makes sense, right?

“Both are all about helping others in our community, so it seems like the perfect matchup,” said Ben Chulick, VP of Marketing & Events for the Arizona Bowl.

The Arizona Bowl will be getting a team of riders, not a formal team but riders who support the game.

But they will have an official Snoop Dogg Arizona Bowl cycling jersey available for purchase.

Cyclists can purchase one or help raise money for the organization, helping raise $250 or more to get the jersey for free.

“Our hopes are to do the best we can in year one,” he said. “There are already a number of things we’ve learned having been at the annual Loop de Loop event (last month) … for this year, it’s about having a presence and to show there is a connection between the two great organizations.”

The Arizona Bowl should do well – doesn’t it always? – given it has an army of people helping with events.

“Our Blue Blazers are about 85 people strong and help us,” he said. “They help generate awareness for our bowl and they have an impact on our community. They were at Loop de Loop and recently at Habitat for Humanity. They will be at the race … we can’t do what we do without our Blue Blazers.”
