Gratitude and Grace Foundation: Back again to help those recovering from organ failure and substance abuse

The gift of life is special and one of kind, but with that comes ups and downs in what we call life. Jamie and Kelly Thrush know what that is like – more specifically Kelly.

Given the journey that they had to go on, they continue to give back because they’ve received the gift of a new life.

They – once again – will help by returning to El Tour to help raise money for their organization: Gratitude and Grace Foundation, which helps others who are in need of financial assistance and resources as they navigate the challenging journey of recovering from organ failure or substance abuse.

“We’re hoping to get in for $10,000 this year,” Jamie said. “We’re going to have another team. We have two signed up, but we’re hoping to get 20.”

Last year they raised nearly $5,000 with a dozen riders, although Kelly wasn’t due to knee surgery.

“It went fantastic; the amount of people that came  together for Gratitude and Grace was pretty amazing,” Kelly said.

But he was disappointed he didn’t get to ride.

“It was fun to cheer everybody on,” he said. “But the whole point is to get out there and ride.”

He will ride this year – “at least that’s the plan” – in the 62-mile event.

That’s great news for the Foundation given what they are working for and toward.

They know what they speak of and that’s how the organization started. The Foundation started two years ago and is looking forward to continuing to help others.

Since then, the foundation has become a beacon of hope and understanding to those going through financial difficulties. Their vision is to help families and individuals go from the road of struggle to the road of healing and prosperity.

With core values of empathy, resilience, stewardship, and collaboration, they are building a community of support and compassion.

Just recently, Gratitude and Grace Foundation received a nice donation from ATB (Arizona Transportation Builders) to help with the cause.

“ATB’s support helps us continue to provide assistance to families navigating recovery, healing, and life’s toughest challenges,” Gratitude and Grace Foundation said on its Facebook page.

The foundation encourages everyone to join on the ride, and it does not matter if you are a cycling expert or a newbie. This ride is fit for everyone!

This is more than just a race. It’s a ride for recovery, a climb for connection, and a journey toward something greater. They look forward to seeing everyone join the ride to recovery and happiness
